6-6 Multiply multi-digit numbers

Listen to Lucky's Voki explain how to solve number one.

Get a Voki now!

Number two
293
x 5

First step
Draw and arrow from 5 to 3. Now multiply 5 times 3. You'll get 15. Write the 5 on the bottom and regroup the 1 over the 9.
Second step
Draw and arrow from the 5 to the 9. Now multiply 5 times 9. You'll bet 45 BUT you also have to add the regrouped 1, to give you 46. Write the 6 on the bottom and regroup the 4 over the 2.
Third step
Draw and arrow from the 5 to the 2. Now multiply 5 times 2. You'll get 10 BUT you also have to add the regrouped 4, to give you 14. Write the 14 on the bottom. We're done, so there is no need to regroup.

Your product is...... 1,465

10-2 Reteach Lines, Line Segments, and Rays

Listen to Lydia's Voki explain how to solve number one on your homework.

I'll walk you through solving number two. I see only one line, which means that it's either a line, line segment, or a ray.

After looking at the pictures, we can see that number two is a line segment. It ends in two dots (enpoints)

11-6 Meausre Area Reteach

HELPFUL HINT
Area = multiplication (2 sides)
Perimeter = add (all sides)

For number two, they've given you a grey rectangle.
To find the length, count the number of boxes across the top.
You'll find that there are 5.
To find the width, count the number of boxes going down the side.
You'll find that there are 2.
Remember, to find the area, you multiply the length by the width.
This gives you the multiplication problem of 5 x 2
5 x 2 = 10
So the area is 10 square units

I'll walk you through solving number 2.
68 times 24
Make sure you draw arrows to help you remember what you are doing.

Step 1:
4 times 8
4x8 = 32
Write the 2 under the problem and regroup(carry) the 3.

Step 2:
4 times 6
4x6 = 24
Don't forget to add the regrouped number, 3
24 plus 3
24+3 = 27
Write 27 under the problem

This gives the first row an answer of 272

Step 3:
Skip down, under 272, write a zero

Step 4:
Multiply 2 times 8
2x8 = 16
Write the 6 under the 7, and regroup(carry) the 1 over the 6 (make sure that you crossed out the 3 from the previous regrouping.

Step 5:
Multiply 2 times 6
2x6 = 12
Don't forget to add the regrouped number (1)
12 plus 1
12+1 = 13
Write the 13 under the first row.

This gives our second row a total of 1,360

Step 6:
Add the first row and the second row
272 plus 1,360

272
+1360

TOTAL 1,632

Now I'll explain how to do number two.
First we need to multiply
3x3
The answer is 9, so write a 9 in the first box.
Now let's multiply the 3 times the other three (its in the tens place on top)
3 x 3 is 9, so write a 9 in the second box.

Now we need to hop over and multiply the 2, but before we multiply we need to hop down to the second row of boxes and write a zero in the first box.
ok
Now multiply the 2 times the 3 on top (in the ones place)
2x3 is 6
Write the 6 in the second box on the bottom.
Now multiply the 2 again times the 3 on top (this time the one in the tens place)
2x3 is 6
Write a 6 in the third box on the bottom.

Now that we are finished multiplying, we need to add the two numbers in the boxes.
99 plus 660

Our total answer is 759.
